By Jennifer (Hsiao-Chen) Huang - Taiwan

Jennifer: Besides English what language are you interested in? Have you thought learning Chinese?

Anne: I would like to learn Spanish. I have thought about learning Chinese. But it would be very difficult. I know Chinese characters are hard to write and the 4 tones would drive me crazy.

Jennifer: Do you think a flight attendant or a news anchor would be a good job for a woman? Why or why not?

Anne: News anchor used to be a man’s job. Now I like to see that more women are taking on bigger challenges and breaking out of stereotypical “women’s jobs,” that help women to recognize their strength, abilities, and independence.

Jennifer: What is your hobby?

Anne: Music is my first love. I enjoy singing and playing the guitar. I also like canoeing. In Vancouver we have the dragon boat festival. But I have never participated. One day I would like to. I love hiking too. I would like to go hiking every week if I could.

Jennifer: Since you enjoy singing, if you had the chance, would you like to be a popular singer?

Anne: That was my dream when I was a teenager. I wanted to be a rock-star. But life had other plans for me. I became a mother and wife instead. My life became my family. I still enjoy music in other ways.

Jennifer: Do you enjoy traveling? What are the top 3 countries you want to visit now?

Anne: I love traveling. I would like to see the whole world. Now my top 3 choices would be Mexico, Italy and Germany.

Jennifer: Do you believe in destiny?

Anne: Yes, I do. We make choices in our lives that lead us to our destinies, wherever we end up is where we’re destined to be.

Jennifer: Do you think doing plastic surgery can change one’s destiny?

Anne: No, I don’t. Plastic surgery is a decision that one makes. That is a part of one’s destiny.
