Your First Day at Archer
Placement Test
On your first day at Archer you will have a placement test to assess your English ability in all areas, and to help us determine the best level for you. It is not necessary to study for this test. We want to know your true English level, so just relax, and do your best.
School Orientation
After your level test our staff will conduct an information session to answer any questions you may have, and to review school policies and procedures and familiarize you with the school, your program and the staff. We will cover a variety of topics including advice for students in homestay, activities, and safety.
Neighbourhood Orientation
Your orientation will also include a neighbourhood tour to introduce you to your new surroundings and to acquaint you with the shops and services available in the area.
Archer Official Test Sites
Archer College Toronto is an official testing centre for the TOEFL exam and the new speaking and writing components of the TOEIC test, and Archer College Hamilton is an official test site for the written TOEIC test. Students can easily arrange their tests at these locations and take their exams in a familiar environment.

Three Study Options
You can choose one of the three options below depending on how many hours you wish to study.
Part-Time (15 hours/week)
You can choose either our Part-Time morning class (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) or Part-Time afternoon (1:00 pm – 4:30 pm). This option is ideal for students who wish to have some free time for self-study or sightseeing.
Full-Time (25 hours/week)
In the Full-Time course you will study from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. This is an excellent program for students who want to get a balance of skills and improve their English quickly in all areas.
Intensive (30 hours/week)
The Intensive Program combines full-time lessons with additional Elective Classes. This option provides students with additional English practice to help them strengthen their skills, as well as an opportunity to explore special-interest topics in English.
English Test Preparation
Improve your test scores in these intensive classes. Succeed by learning the skills, strategies and patterns on standardized English tests such as TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS. Experienced teachers can answer questions clearly and give you direction on how to improve your specific weaknesses. Practice tests are carefully analyzed which give you specific feedback to guide your independent study program. Official TOEIC testing is available at our Hamilton Campus and Official TOEFL testing is available at our Toronto campus. We are happy to arrange for any testing required at nearby centres.
