Mr. Davis was instrumental in preparing and presenting the very extensive requirements
to the Ministry of Colleges and Universities of Ontario for registration as a private College
for the Toronto College of Diamond Institute. This registration completed the very
integration process that Toronto Learning Academy had been pursuing for some time.
This now provided TLA. with a language school Canadian College of Business and
English,a registered Elementary School and High School Toronto Academic School,
and the registered College.
Mr. Davis's lengthy experience with the Toronto Catholic District School Board in the
Continuing Education Department made him a perfect fit within the TLA group.
In 1978 he was appointed Principal of the first summer elementary program to combine
both remedial and enrichment programs. It was such a success that Mr. Davis was
appointed Supervising Principal to oversee the establishment of 15 new centers for
the following year. As Supervising Principal, Mr. Davis was also responsible for the
Continuing Education Budget.
In recognition of his problem solving abilities, budget control systems, and vision for
the future, Mr. Davis was asked to transfer into the Secondary Summer Program.
Within two years the program went from a student enrolment of 3000 students to 12000
students. This increase in numbers resulted in a yearly surplus of funds for the Board
to use in other areas. Also, Mr. Davis was formally appointed Senior Supervising
Principal for all of the Continuing Education programs. Mr. Davis continued to encourage
and develop new programs until he left that position to focus more attention to the TLA
group of schools.
Mr. Davis's experience and extensive interaction with the Ministry of Education while with
the Continuing Education Department of the Toronto Catholic District School Board has
been a tremendous advantage to the TLA group and their dealings with the Ministry as
private sector education providers in Ontario.
